Your setup begins with your monitor.

The setup finder checks your monitors' VESA, weight, and size – and shows you which mounts are compatible, for the wall or desk.

Find a suitable mount

Monitor wall mount: the most important questions

A wall mount supports the monitor without a stand or desk clamp. Your desk remains completely clear, and the screen stays put even where there is no desk: at the workbench, in the kitchen, at the reception, or in the workshop.

Flat wall mount or wall mount with an arm?

A flat mount keeps the monitor close to the wall, with only a few centimeters of space, and usually allows it to be tilted and slightly swiveled. It is suitable if the screen always stays in the same place. A wall arm pulls the monitor forward, swivels it to the side, and adjusts the height—even with one hand if it features spring assistance. It is suitable if you want to pull the monitor toward you or view it from different directions.

Wall or desk – which is better?

The wall, if the desk should remain completely free and the monitor is rarely moved; the desk, if you do not want to drill or if you frequently rearrange your space. If you work at a height-adjustable desk, the monitor belongs on the desk: a wall mount does not move with it. You can find an overview of desk mounts under all monitor mounts.

Which wall is suitable?

Concrete, brick, and sand-lime brick can support even heavy monitors on an arm. For drywall and lightweight partition walls, you should screw the wall plate into a stud or wooden beam behind the panel; cavity wall anchors alone are only sufficient for lightweight monitors on a flat mount. The further a wall arm is extended, the more stress it puts on the top screws.

How high should I mount the monitor on the wall?

Position it so that the top edge of the screen is at or slightly below eye level when sitting. Before drilling, sit at your station, mark this height on the wall, and calculate back from the top edge to the center of the VESA mount. With a wall arm, you can adjust the height later; with a flat mount, it is fixed.

Will the wall mount fit my monitor?

Yes, if your monitor has a VESA mount and its weight without the stand is within the range of the mount. Most wall mounts here accommodate VESA 75 × 75 and 100 × 100 mm, and the large wall arms also fit 200 × 200 mm. If the threads are missing, there are VESA adapters for your model. The fastest way to check is with the Setup Finder: enter your monitor model to see compatible mounts.

What about the cables?

On a wall arm, the cables usually run through clips along the arm to the wall plate, and from there into a cable duct down to the power outlet or computer. Leave some slack in the cables at the arm so nothing pulls when you swivel it.

The monitor is hanging crooked – what to do?

With many heads, the monitor can be rotated by a few degrees after installation: loosen the screws on the head, align it, and tighten them again. If the wall plate itself is crooked, you have to drill again. Therefore, always mark the holes beforehand using a spirit level.

The monitor sags on the wall arm – what to do?

With a spring-assisted arm, the spring tension does not match the weight: turn the adjustment screw on the joint to increase tension, always with the monitor mounted. For arms without springs, tighten the joint screws. If the weight is outside the arm's range, it cannot be compensated for.

The monitor tips forward – what to do?

Tighten the screw on the tilt joint of the head. Heavy and curved monitors have their center of gravity far forward and pull downward more strongly; if their weight is close to the load capacity, choose a mount with more margin.
