VESA Adapter: The most important questions

A VESA adapter gives a monitor that lacks a suitable VESA mount a standard hole pattern. Afterwards, it will fit any monitor arm, wall mount, or stand with a VESA mount.

What is VESA?

VESA is the standard for mounting screens: four screw holes in a square on the back, usually spaced 75 × 75 or 100 × 100 mm apart. Almost all mounts use it.

How do I know if my monitor needs an adapter?

Remove the stand and look at the back. If you see four screw holes in a square, you do not need an adapter. If they are missing, there are only two holes, or the stand sits on a proprietary mount, you need one.

Why do so many monitors lack VESA?

Because slim and affordable housings do not leave space for a hole pattern, and manufacturers do not intend these models for wall mounting. The stand then attaches to a proprietary mount – and that is exactly where a model-specific adapter is used.

Model-specific adapter or universal clamp adapter?

The model-specific adapter fits securely into the stand's mount and covers nothing. Universal clamp adapters grip the monitor by the frame; they fit more devices but provide less stability and are often visible over the edge.

Do I need to drill or use adhesive?

No. The adapter uses the stand's mounting points; nothing on the monitor is altered, and the stand can be reattached at any time.

Which adapter fits my model?

Select your manufacturer on the left or enter your monitor model in the Setup Finder. Each adapter is verified to see which models it fits.

My hole pattern is too small for the mount – what should I do?

A VESA adapter plate compensates for the distance, for example from 75 × 75 to 100 × 100 mm or larger.

The threads are deep in the back panel or the back is curved – what should I do?

In that case, the mount hits the housing before it can grip. VESA spacers move the mount outward so that the plate lies flush.
