VESA Spacers & Extension

Your monitor has VESA, but the mount doesn't fit? Here is the solution.

What doesn’t fit?

The hole pattern is too small

Your monitor is 50 × 50 or 75 × 75 mm, but your mount requires 100 × 100 mm. The universal spacer expands it to 100 × 100 mm while creating some distance from the back wall.

The threads are too deep

The threads are recessed or the back is curved: The bracket hits the housing before the screws can catch. Spacers provide the necessary clearance – the set includes three lengths, just use the one that fits.

The mount is larger than 100 × 100

Heavy-duty mounts and wall brackets are often 200 × 200 mm or larger. For up to 200 × 200 mm, use the adapter plate; for up to 400 × 400 mm, use the extension kit.

The monitors are at different heights

Your mount cannot adjust each arm individually in height, and two different monitors therefore do not align at the edge? The height-adjustable adapter shifts a monitor from the center by up to 7.5 cm up or down until the edges are flush.

VESA spacers & extensions: the most important questions

Your monitor has VESA threads, but the mount still doesn't fit? This is usually due to one of two things: the hole pattern is too small, or the threads are set too deep in the back panel. The solution for both can be found here – often in a single part.

What is the difference between a spacer and an extension?

A spacer creates distance between the mount and the back panel, while an extension increases the hole pattern. The universal VESA spacer can do both: it creates distance and turns a 50 × 50 or 75 × 75 mm hole pattern into a 100 × 100 mm one.

When do I need an extension?

When your monitor's hole pattern is smaller than that of your mount, for example 75 × 75 mm on the monitor and 100 × 100 mm on the mount. There is a separate extension plate for larger mounts up to 200 × 200 mm.

When do I need a spacer?

When the VESA threads are located in a recess, the back is curved, or connectors are in the way. Without a spacer, the mount's plate hits the casing before the screws can take hold.

How do I measure the hole pattern and depth?

You measure the hole pattern from the center of one thread to the center of the next, horizontally and vertically. You measure the depth from the thread opening to the highest point of the back panel around the mounting point. A set with multiple lengths covers most depths.

Do I need longer screws?

Yes, when using a spacer, the screw must be longer by the length of the spacer to ensure it still grips enough thread in the monitor. Most monitors have M4 threads.

My monitor has no VESA threads at all – what now?

Then neither spacers nor extensions will help. You need a VESA adapter for your model.

My monitors are at different heights on the mount – what can I do?

If your mount cannot adjust the height of each arm individually, a height-adjustable VESA adapter can compensate for the difference: it shifts a monitor from the center by up to 7.5 cm upwards or downwards, providing a total adjustment range of 15 cm.

The mount does not lie flush despite the spacer – what can I do?

Use the next longest size. If the plate is tilted, it is usually hitting a point on the curved back panel; it will clear it with more distance.

The screws won't catch – what can I do?

Then they are too short for the spacer and mount combined. Use longer screws of the same thread size and check that they are not bottoming out in the thread. Never force them.
